A 41-year-old labourer, who was teased by his friend for wasting money on two New York Lottery instant scratchcards, has walked away with a cool $1million. Michael Schmidt, of Burt, Niagara County, was out shopping on November 6 when he decided to try out his luck on two $5 lottery scratch-off tickets. He said: “I finished shopping and stopped at the (lottery) machine on the way out of the store. A friend walked by and laughed at me for wasting my money. Now, that makes me laugh!”
